The Blue Iris Vase
Designed by David Redman, the Blue Iris Vase is created using a technique pioneered by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1905. This 'paperweight' technique uses a single gather of glass to which are applied various patterns using colored glass in the form of canes. These canes are drawn onto the glass using special tools made by the glassmaker himself. At each application of color, the vase must be returned to the furnace to avoid cracking, and once complete, requires 48 hours of slow cooling. Each piece is unique and finished with a sterling silver base.
