First New York printing of what would officially become the American national anthem – finally adopted as such in 1931 – 117 years after it was written.
Known as "Defence of Fort M'Henry" when first published anonymously as a broadside on September 17th of 1814. First printed as a song later that autumn in Baltimore. This edition was the first to be printed in New York and the fifth to be printed with this title. Archivally framed.
